Staff Qualifications

Any person wishing to be employed at the West Lakes Aquatic Centre must first apply for permission to teach through the Sport, Swimming & Aquatic Unit (DECD).
In order to receive this permission to teach, applicants must first acquire a Senior First Aid Certificate, which is valid for 3 years and a Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate which must be updated annually.
As we offer a range of different activities at our centre, instructors are required to hold a current qualification in each one of the activities they teach.

All staff must attend an annual Instructor conference and regular Staff, Training & Development meetings.
Staff members are also expected to annually update Mandatory Notification information.
As West Lakes Aquatic Centre has three rescue craft at its disposal, two on the lake and one at the beach, each member of staff is expected to hold a current valid boat license.
